These little portuguese tartlets are the kind I used to make back home while still in high school and let me tell you, my brothers loved them, there were usually none left by nighttime.
Note: You CAN add a tiny bit of cinnamon to the mixture, but traditionally you don't :)
Queijadas Economicas - Milk Tartlets
Yield: 18 tartlets
Ingredients
300 gr/ 2 cups sugar
50 gr/ about 3 tablespoons butter or margarine
0.5L/ 2 cups milk
150 gr/ 1 1/2 cups flour
2 eggs
Preparation
Mix all the ingredients well, then divide among 18 muffin pans.
Bake at 375 F for about 30 minutes. Remove from oven, dust with cinnamon and serve.

ReplyDeleteI am eating these as I speak. Absolutely delicious. Nice and quick too! I added a pinch of nutmeg and a drop of vanilla and then sprinkled with cinnamon-sugar once baked up. Wasn't sure if these were meant to be eaten straight from the oven or cooled in the refrigerator. So far i have tried them hot and love them. They are now cooling on my counter top. I really think i like portugese food! I am very eager to try more of your recipes. So far, so great! But it appears i'm too late in discovering this blog, have you abandoned it? :(
