Slow Cooker Swiss Steak!!!

About 2 weeks ago while at Cracker Barrel for dinner, I picked up a Slow Cooking Cookbook from Gooseberry Patch. Little did I know that I was about to embark on this love affair with ANY cookbooks printed by this store. I'm not kidding, yesterday I went by and picked up yet another 3 packed with amazing recipes which I'm sure I'll be trying and sharing with you all.

In the meantime, if you read my Menu Plan for this week, you know that it's all about Slow Cooking, trying a ton of new recipes from the new book. So here we go, right now I have a heavenly smelling Swiss Steak cooking away......I'm not stingy at all, so I decided what good is it of me to tell you about it if I don't share the recipe too???

Let me know if you try it, I'll come back and give a review once we've had dinner.

SWISS STEAK
Gooseberry Patch "Slow Cooker Recipes"

2 lbs. boneless beef round steak, cut into 6 serving pieces
1.1-oz pkg. beefy onion soup mix
3 c. onion, sliced
28-oz. can diced tomatoes
3 T. all-purpose flour
1 c. water

Arrange steak in a slow cooker. Sprinkle soup mix over steaks; arrange onion slices all around. Top with tomatoes. Cover and cook on low setting for 8 hours, or on high setting for 6 hours. Remove steak and vegetables from slow cooker; set aside. Mix together flour and water; add to slow cooker and stir until thickened. Spoon gravy over steak to serve. Makes 4 to 6 servings.

Add zest to a soup or stew recipe....easy! Just choose a seasoned variety of canned diced tomatoes like Italian or Mexican.
