Slow Simmered Meat Sauce for Spaghetti!

Tried this one for the first time yesterday and it was a big hit, hubby raved about it so I'm thrilled :)

It smells heavenly as it cooks all day long in the crockpot and come on, who doesn't like a delicious meal without having to slave away at the stove????

Give it a try and let me know what you think!

1 lb lean ground beef
1/2 lb bulk Italian pork sausage
1 medium onion, chopped
1 medium green pepper, chopped
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 cup finely chopped carrot
1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes, undrained
1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
1 tablespoon packed brown sugar
3 teaspoons Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
16 oz uncooked spaghetti
Shredded Parmesan cheese, if desired

The recipe calls for you to first brown the beef and the sausage, but I skipped that step.

In a slow cooker, mix beef, sausage and all remaining ingredients except spaghetti and Parmesan cheese.

Cover; cook on LOW for 8 to 10 hours.

About 20 minutes before serving, cook and drain spaghetti as directed on package. Serve sauce over spaghetti and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.

  1. This sounds great and I LOVE how you snuck the carrots in there :)

  2. Smells great! :)
I think I will just be stopping by your place for supper! lol.

  3. I came over from Granny's House & am trying your spaghetti today. It has been in the crockpot for about 4 hours (I browned the meat first), we've all sampled it and I am not sure there will be any left by suppertime! Yummy.
    Thanks for sharing.

  4. And I love that blogger says I posted that at 10:58 AM, which would mean I had that meal going by 7:58 AM. Ha Ha. I mean, okay. You can think that. (Maybe it's time zones.)

  5. Oops, I mean 6:58. Better get back to letting my kids teach me math : )

  6. The spaghetti was a hit! Thank you!
