Snickerdoodles
1/2 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
2 3/4 c. sifted flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
Cream butter, shortening, sugar and eggs, then add vanilla. In another bowl, mix flour, baking powder and salt and then incorporate your wet and dry ingredients.
Form into balls and roll in a cinnamon & sugar mixture (approximately 1/2 c. sugar and 2 tsp. cinnamon). Bake at 400 for approximately 10 minutes.

These were my most favorite cookies growing up - I loved making them and EATING them too!

oh my gosh - these look sooo good! Snickerdoodles are my favorite. i'm gluten-free and will have to substitute out another kind of flour but i can't wait to try them! i just came across your website - can't wait to look through the rest of your recipes!

I was thinking to try these but can't get shortening ... do you think it would be ok to just use more butter in place of the shortening ?
ReplyDeleteWow, YUM! These cookies turned out fabulous, even with my 4 & 2 year old right in there with it all!! You said you have to control yourself with these ones- How do you do it?!
ReplyDeleteI just got here to check out the recipe, because the pic looks delicious! Yep, they pretty much go together like a Mexican polvoron cookie. Except no butter only shortening. Love your idea for making a cool whip sandwich!
