I think one of the things that most captivates me about these cookbooks is not only the easy and delicious recipes, but the cute and really helpful ideas that are littered throughout the pages.
When I was contacted by Gooseberry Patch and asked if I would be interested in reviewing one of their cookbooks, I was so excited that I could hardly wait for the book to arrive in the mail.
Oh this book is full of yummy recipes, the minute it arrived I sat down at the kitchen table and started marking which ones I would try and let me just say that I think there may be one or two pages in the whole book that didn't get marked *snort*
Gooseberry Patch's 101 Hearty recipes is chock full of goodness and if you're a fan of cookbooks with pictures for every recipe, then this one is for you.
Main and Side Dishes, Speedy and Satisfying, Casual and Comforting, Desserts and a bunch of recipes that are perfect for gift giving year round.
So here are the first 3 recipes that I tried.......and trust me, I'll be trying many many more.
Cornbread Chicken Pot Pie
Submitted by Roberta Valella, Minot, ND
Brown Sugar Barbecue Sandwiches (SO GOOD)
Submitted by Kathy Majeske, Denver, PA
Bowties and Blush
Submitted by Brooke Sottosanti, Brunswick, OH
They were all very good but I will say that the one that got the biggest thumbs up from the family, were the Brown Sugar Barbecue Sandwiches. Mmmmm those were delicious!

ReplyDeleteOh no! It's been a dreadful week and when I say, dreadful...I can't even talk about it because it's heartbreaking and this is a happy place but still my heart is breaking and how can so many things happen in the course of "one week?' If I wrote what about the events of my "one week" -- I'd have a best seller.Kleenex would go out of business -- so would Visine. It IS October 11th, in Tucson, Arizona, It's 10:17 mst -- I THINK Arizona is on mst, or maybe they are on the "Arizona, and a portion of Indiana, share the same time zone -- " time zone." Indiana isn't a mountain state neither is Arizona,so maybe Arizona is something else? If I wasn't a blonde I'd have no excuse! Am I supposed to say something happy? Like, ummm, I wish I were visiting Disneyland.Well, maybe if I wore a red polka dot dress, I'd be happy.Gosh, do polka dots make ones butt look big? Bigger? I love Goose Berry Patch everything-- especially the "best friends" whom always seem to have "bad hair days." Not the REAL FRIENDS -- THE DRAWN ONES. If you want to sigh, take a look at the cover of book 13! i ADORE cake.OMG! I don't like gooseberry pie. I had ONE bite of it at Knott's Berry Farm,or was it at Marie Callenders? I am thrilled I forgot where I ate it because I won't do THAT again! My emaill address is ...DebraDisney-Dior@comcast.net,and you ARE welcome to ask about my week, :(
ReplyDeleteOh no! I forgot to say, "Thank you, for ALL your great recipes -- all the time -- always the best recipes and more often than not -- never saw the recipes before recipes." Really. They are SO good,it is a wonder that no one has been tempted to "steal them." :) <----------- Happy face, YAY! My ALL time favorite recipe is your BOLO MARMORE cake, which I call " the best unbirthday,or belated birthday cake that I've ever had."That was back in October 2008 after the 9th,or early November 2008. OMGoodness,I DID have 2 birthday cakes that year -- I guess that makes up for my not having one this year -- and I am NOT complaining because that would mean I couldn't be sad that no one wished me a happy birthday or sent a card or a smoke signal. Well, no need for smoke signals because I went to the reservation, alone, and lost -- no I gave a donation to the casino! There are times, when one can be SO alone in this world -- even though there are 10 little Indians in the corner. Oh woe is me. Ummm, how does one write a happy ending? I apologize. I do. I saw the contest and all I wanted to do was enter happily and make a happy exit. I am NOT a party pooper. Sometimes one just needs a pooper scooper. I AM happy! Remember this? :) <----------------- me being. Night all!
