BTW I forgot to add that I found this recipe online a while ago, I can't remember the site but I am almost 100% sure it's a Portuguese food blog and it may actually be Luisa Alexandra.
Beef and Bacon Pinwheels
1 1/2 lbs ground beef
1 packet onion gravy mix
1 egg
2 TBSP white wine
salt and pepper
garlic powder
pepper
Bacon slices
Mix all the ingredients well.....then I use a 1/2 cup measuring spoon and scoop up some of the meat mixture. I used big heaping scoops to make big meatballs.
Wrap a bacon slice around the meatball and then flatten it a bit until it resembles a disc.
Place in a greased oven proof dish and bake in a 450º F oven for about 45 to 50 minutes or until meat and bacon are cooked.
The kids requested some cheese on theirs, so I just placed some cheese slices on a few, popped them back in for about 5 minutes to melt and VOILA...done!
now, do you use onion soup, like the recipe says, or onion gravy mix, like in the picture? i don't mean to be critical, it just looks delicisus and i want to try it!!!
ReplyDeleteManda, you're right, I mistyped....I edited the post to the right ingredient, it's onion gravy mix, not onion soup LOL
ReplyDeleteOh gosh that looks mighty good! I may have to give this a try!
ReplyDeleteAs usual, Sandra... this is one of your easy yet delicious looking recipes! Anything is good wrapped in bacon, isn't it ;)
ReplyDeleteThat's genius, I will put this on the menu for next week.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sandra, I have been feeling "Blah" coming up with new meal ideas.
My dh is going to love me forever if I make him this! Seeing as I have all the ingredients, I think I'll be making him these very, very soon! Thanks for a wonderful recipe!

Sandra, I actually thought of you while I was making the kale soup and knew that yours would be different. I doubt there are two the same, do you? Ha. I actually found some linguica at Sam's Club in Great Falls on our last trip there, so I stocked up!

ReplyDeleteI made these for my husbands birthday and he said it was the best meal he has ever had. Thank you!!
ReplyDeletedumb question. how much salt and pepper, garlic powder do I use???
ReplyDeleteStephen, just use salt and pepper and garlic powder to taste. I don't have measurements, I pretty much cook by eyeballing. If I had to guess I would say about a teaspoon of salt and pepper and the same with garlic.
ReplyDeleteThanks!! That was quick!!! My wife loves your blog and recipes. I was told to make this today as she has to take this kids to various appts.
ReplyDeleteYou're very welcome, and thank you, say hi to your wife. Makes me happy that she loves my blog :)
ReplyDeleteTrying to make these right now, and I'm struggling. I've wrapped the bacon around the patty, but on the grill the bacon keeps falling off. Any suggestions?
